traits found in potential molestors

1) substance abuse

2) abuse relationship

3) mental illness

4) past history of abuse

A lot of molestors become abusive because there is a cycle. They might have been molested or physically or emotionally abused as children. Upbringing and society also plays a factor. We all sympathize with the victims. However, in order to help the victims, we must also understand why some people do molest children. The better we understand molestors, the better we are at helping molestors overcome their problem. The better we are at helping molestors overcome their problem, the better we are at preventing molestation. Only then are we able to break the cycle.

I am not going into details on this presently. I do not have enough information on it and have done little research on this. However, this is an area which I shall look into later and appeal to the government to pursue this issue.

MS Sans Serif Symbol Times New Roman THE CHILD MOLESTOR

The child molestor can be anyone. It can be a stranger, a relative, a teacher, a parent, a cousin......regardless of gender, race or social and intellectual status. In fact, out of the cases reported, more often than not, the molestor is someone the child knows rather than a stranger. It is also true that in most cases, the perpetrator are male. However, it is equally wrong for parents to be suspicious of every man that comes near an inch of their children. "A R K ! He is 1/2 yard from my little girl!! Call the police!"

Most people are safe with children. There are indicators or signs which hint that a person might be a child molestor. Please note that I use the word hint. It is hard to pinpoint who is and who is not a potential molestor. So, do not jump into conclusions just because you detect a sign or two. He may very well be just a friendly person who loves kids. These are just guidelines and should only, ONLY, be used to show the possibility....maybe he is. It is your signal to take precaution and keep a careful watch.

a - overly friendly towards children

b - always bringing gifts and giving expensive gifts (Ark! I think I should have a word with my mother about her gifts to my son.) Use your judgment. If the person isn't related to your child and is always buying him or her toys, then it should serve as a warning signal. What is the motive behind it?

c- too many accidental touching

d - frequent repeated "offer" to tutor or babysit

OK! I have to tell my friend that I can't send my son over to her house to play with

her children every Sunday now.

Once again, use your judgment. How is the person related to the child. What is

the motive behind the offer?

e - carries a camera everywhere and takes a lot of pictures of children.

Guess, my husband has to give up his interest in photography now.

f - home arrangement (esp if he has no children of his own at home)

1) many pictures of various children

2) books on child psychology, photography and art

3) children's books and toys

4) elaborate computer system

5) video games

6) a lot of candies and junk food for children

7) children's magazines and comics

8) children's video
